"The Warm"

This Months Blast From the Past is from the Sept 1968
Dennis Conroy Fan Club News Letter "Conroy Crier".
Special Thanks To Dennis Conroy,Karen Dulberg and Pablo Wis.
Also Special Thanks to Diane Conroy Osborne for the Navy Photo of Dennis below.

A whole lot has gone on with the Shames lately, as a matter of fact, all summer. No sooner had Denny joined the Navy that strange things started happening. It all started when The Great Razor attacked Isaac Guillory, removing him from the "Best Bearded Bass" catagory and putting ole' Isaac at the top of the "Best Bald- faced Bass catagory".
Then our group got itself some national exposure in the form of Showcase '68. For those who saw the show and have been nurturing a secret grudge against Lloyd Thaxton and the kid who won the contest, take heart in the fact that the guys thought the kid was really fantastic and besides, no one can remember his name. Ya don't see too many people forgetting the Shames.
Along came July, and the guys went to New York to cut the new album.(which has been since scrapped and recut.) It should be out in December, knock on wood, entitled (for the time being, at least) "Games" {this was the Synthesis album} While in New York, they put out the new single, (Ta-Da) "Greenberg, Glickstein, Charles, David Smith & Jones".
Jimmy Fairs; Frare all of a sudden got tired of plain old "Jim" and decided to psyche everyone out by spelling it "Jymm". Jymm got to arrainge and sing his brainchild, a fantastic thing called "Warm" , all by himself. If you're not too sure what all that means, it means that Jymm cut several guitar and vocal tracks and put them together, result: All Fairs-All Beautiful. If you heard "Warm" done onstage and liked it, you'll go insane over the way it"s done on the "B" side of "Greenberg, Glickstein, Charles, David Smith & Jones". It seems that "Warm" was Jymmy's swan song, though, because on July 29th, Jymmy Fairs played his last job with the Shames at the New Place in Algonquin,Ill. He's in New York now, with a new guiter and a new job as a record producer. He'll go far!.
August was a relatively quiet month, at least as quiet as possible with the Shames.
