The group disbanded in December of 1969, with each member persuing their own intrests. From 1969-1986, The Cryan' Shames did reunion shows, as they continue to now. The band members varied during those years, but Tom Doody and Jim Pilster continued performing with the group until Tom retired briefly from 2002 - 2007. Jim Fairs last appeared with the Reunion Band in 1982 along with Lenny Kerley, Isaac Guillory, Tom Doody and Jim Pilster at Chicagofest, and McGreevey's in Glenview,Il,. James Fairs made a guest appearance with them at their 2000 Chicago Gold, Star Plaza concert in Merrilliville, IN., and at Rory's in Addison, IL. in 2001. James is still active in music and getting ready to release his new CD "21st Century Guitar" , and "Techno Blues" (The James Band). James Fairs and Issac Guillory did On-Line Chatroom interviews for us in 1999, and we interviewed Alan Dawson and Lenny Kerley at the Lyons Brewery in 1998, the transcripts of which are posted on this web site.

Denny Conroy was our guest in 1997 and 1998 and is now playing keyboards. Denny Conroy and Alan Dawson both made guest appearances with The Two-Bit Oysters in 1997-98. Dave Carter gave us a telephone interview, and was to appear with "Saturday's Children" at the 30 year Cellar Reunion in 1999, Alan Dawson was there representing The Boston Tea Party / Cryan' Shames. Gerry Stone surprised everyone by attending a Cryan' Shames concert in 1997. Websites on the past band members may be reached from our "Links" page
Isaac Guillory and Dave Purple passed away in 2001 (see memorial links at the bottom of this page). Gerry Stone, Tom Doody, Alan Dawson, James Fairs, Jim Pilster and Bob Stroud performed with the Cryan' Shames at the February 21, 2002 Isaac Guillory benefit which was a Magical Happening at Chicago's Hard Rock Cafe. The Benefit also featured Jim Pilster's Hook being inducted into the Hard Rock Cafe's "Wall Of Fame".

Scramble has a following of some of the Cryan' Shames's fans, who also enjoy their music. Jim Pilster also briefly had an accoustic band called "The Two-Bit Oysters" which included Shames' members Ron Brandt, Jeff Rutter , Rocky Penn, and Paul Wood. Ron Brandt now has his own web site "The Fishin' Musician" which features his many adventures, pics, music, and a lot of fun. Jim Pilster's new band ".JPG" is comprised of Peggyanne and Jimmy.

Each year during the summer festival season they perform reunion concerts at fests and revivals with such '60s greats as: The Buckinghams,The New Colony Six, The Ides of March, The Shadows Of Knight, The American Breed, Ronnie Rice, The Mauds, and The Association. The band is still tight, and their legendary vocals are well rehearsed, the magic of which has always been the Shames's trademark that made them stand out from the rest. Their showmanship and stage presence is long remembered by their audience.

Jim Pilster handles the group's bookings and promotions, besides performing with the group.

A close camaraderie is obviously present, which nurtures a close family-like relationship among the group. The band is great fun for all of them, with their greatest satisfaction coming from performing for their fans.

Until 2002,Sue Patterson handled the Shames' fan mail, and Gloria Knuth handles the On-Line Newsletter and T-Shirt sales. Marlene O'Malley and Diane Raddatz are our reporters in the Chicago Area. Marlene and Gloria have been with the Shames staff since their early years with M.G. Productions. Jules and Kent Follett are The Cryan' Shames's photographers. Mike Ayers frequently joins the Shames on conga drums and vocals. Jim Nudd was their sound man 2004.

In 1988, The Cryan' Shames released a UK album which contained all the songs from "Sugar and Spice," plus: "Young Birds Fly, "It Could Be We're In Love," "Mr. Unreliable," "Greenburg, Glickstein, Charles, David Smith & Jones," and "Up on the Roof." Their latest release, from 1992, is a cd entitled "Sugar and Spice - A Collection." It contains selections from their three albums and also has some unreleased singles... "which may very well blow your mind sky high!"
