CONCERTS 2007

The Cryan' Shames Concert Season has been officially opened by our one and only J.C. Hooke. A lot of exciting concerts are ahead this year for everyone, with more to come.

A Message from J.C. Hooke
Hooke says "sadly; The rumors of the Shames demise has been greatly exaggerated" . And, confirmed one of the worst kept secrets in Rock&Roll; Tom 'Toad' Doody will be returning this summer as our lead singer. We can't wait! Many thanks and great love to Bob Stroud for the years of sittin' in at that post.
We didn't do a lot of booking this year, but the shows we have planned look to be a lot of fun. One reason the schedule is short ( more dates are coming) is that 'OLD' Hooke isn't sure he can get his foot to reach the cymbal anymore..............you will just have to come and see for yourselves.
Love & Peace to all,
JP

The June 23rd, 2007 Downers Grove Heritage Fest Concert - Another Magical Night
Don't miss this special happening featuring surprise guests - A Blast From The Past. It is rumored that Professor Toad will finally reveal the secret meaning to the lyrics to Ben Franklin's Almanac....and another surprise guest that is involved with this ongoing mystery will also be there...along with another past band member that was the Malott's Christmas guest in 1997. So, expect fun, surprises, the unexpected...and another Magical Night that will store memories for everyone.

The Downers Grove Mystery Guest Contest
The Cryan' Shames Web Site is giving a NEW Cryan' Shames T-Shirt to the first 3 fans to guess the identities of all of the Mystery Guests that will be appearing at the Downers Grove Heritage Fest Concert. There will be more than one, maybe 3 or more - WOW. Entries can be e-mailed to Babs or given to G.L.O.R.I.A. before the concert. Further clues will be given before the concert (Their names are all on the Credits Page).

News From Clark Besch

Has it been awhile since you heard the Cryan Shames on a 50000 watt AM Chicago giant? Wait no longer! WLS? No. WCFL? No (of course). Would you believe Talk Radio WGN? YES!!! I have been telling people for months about WGN AM's Nick Digilio show on Sunday nights at 10 PM. It's so cool to have a Chicago AM radio show to listen to again from here in Lincoln that I ENJOY! That's a bad time for most of you, I know, but for a second shifter like me, it's great! Even better, his show features funny hilites of Cubs Ron Santo broadcasts at 10:30 Sunday nights and they just might feature a mix of mine tonight on the air! Even better, next week (we think), the semi-regular "History of Chicago Rock" will feature our beloved Cryan Shames! I am hoping ALL OF YOU listen in for it and if you like it, email Nick and let him know. They joke about how few comments they get on the music on the show, so what a great opportunity to show your Shames support! In connection with the 11 PM Chicago rock part of the show, dealing with some pretty obscure acts at times, there will be a Plastic Crime Wave Steve Krakow cartoon caracature of the Shames in the Reader this week sometime! Please watch for this! I'd love to get a copy. Hopefully Steve will send me one. He does a great job talking about these Chicago artists and they take calls sometimes. Anyway, I THINK the radio show will be next Sunday night at 11PM that features the Shames and sometime this week, the Reader will have the blurb on the Cryan Shames history with original drawing of the band by Steve. It gives me goosebumps just to think of hearing the old AM cranking the Shames on a Chicago 50,000 watter again! If it is not next Sunday, I will try to give you correct Sunday. BTW, Nick's shows always have cool music comments and the guy is just fun to listen to. Mr. Stroud is still king, but Nick does a great job in a totally different way. Hope all are well! Clark Besch Hank Aaron is still the HAMMER!
