Wed, Aug. 26th, 7:30pm! Bolingbrook Performing Arts Center
NO RAINOUTS IN BOLINGBROOK!
First, a heads-up...no shows are ever cancelled at the Bolingbrook Performing Arts Center. When it rains, the people of Bolingbrook sit on lawn chairs or blankets and hold umbrellas. When one looks out at the hillside from stage, one sees a layer of multi-colored umbrellas...and a large crowd.
Bolingbrook Performing Arts Center Director Dale McClannahan expects a large turnout, and we look forward to seeing everyone for the Show and the After-Show Party at the Holiday Inn. During the Show, we’ll be performing new versions of Sugar and Spice, First Train to California, Tobacco Road, The Sailing Ship, The Warm, Sunshine Psalm, It Could Be We’re In Love, and more...and I’ll throw in a few new originals as well. The After-Show Party will have some food, a cash bar, a stage with full PA. Many of the performers from the jamez band including the Cryan’ Shames Founders will be there to talk, sign any and all artifacts presented...and to just be there until after 1:00 a.m.
Please see the map link below for the locations of the Performing Arts Center and the Holiday Inn, and please note the below for written directions.
Map Link
This will be a ton of fun and every member of the group looks forward to seeing you there.
All the best,
James

A Message from James Fairs......

Shames Reunion - A Night to Remember Click here
What's it all about?
Some nights are meant to only happen once. These are the Magical Nights that are later destined to become frozen moments in time that store memories. Waiting for that right trigger in the distant future, where they are replayed with the full brunt of their emotional charge... and the night is then relived, remembered.
Magical Nights occur when there is something different present, "something in the air" that transcends the usual five senses. The right ingredients must be present for this phenomena to occur. It requires the emotional alchemy of both the band and the fans. There is no substitute for either.
Frozen moments in time are what The Cryan' Shames web site is all about. The band and the fans provide the moments along with the memories of the night, of the one you loved.... that live on in the minds of those who remember.
When these moments occur they must be seized and held tightly, least they prematurely slip away,...and then held hostage for the future, with the ransom of replay. To be relived, and remembered as frozen moments in time.
See you at the concerts, and many more Magical Nights!

News from Tom Doody and Jim Pilster
Hey Guys
I live a really boring life. I am working at home, I am teaching my standard poodle some tricks. I am playing bass with Lenny Kerley in his blues band. Other than that I am just getting older.

News from Marlene and Di, our Website Reporters
Sensual. Physical. Mystical. Magical. Those are the feelings set forth by Jim Peterik's newest venture, Lifeforce. Jim is the rock behind the Ides of March, Survivor, and World Stage, all of which he was a creative part, and his latest output is the jazz-rock oriented Lifeforce. You can check out more about this venture on his website www.jimpeterik.com or www.jimpeterikslifeforce.com.Suffice it to say, tho, that it stirs up all of those feelings and more.
We had the pleasure of seeing Jim's Lifeforce show on Saturday at Fitzgerald's in Berwyn, along with a myriad of other Peterik and Ides of March fans, as well as one surprise...James Fairs and his lady friend Karen came out to see it too. As most of you Shames-watchers know, James is a creative force all on his own, and likes to mix it up a bit. So I can only think that he too, enjoyed the jazzed up versions of "Vehicle", "Eye of the Tiger", and "The Search is Over", some of Peterik's classic themes, as well as several new ones showcasing the beautiful voice of Lisa McClowrey. It was an upbeat night featuring some of the World Stage musicians, Mike Aquino, Ed Breckenfeld, Steve Eisen, Klem Hayes and others on new and old tunes with a new twist and a little spice on the rocks. Opening the night was another Peterik newcomer, his son Colin's band, Lobster Newburg.
Colin and his pals got us into the groove with some of his own compositions, and a rocked up version of Leon Russell's "Tight Rope", before Peterik and his band hit the stage for some cool jazz. It was an easy transition from the heavier rock and roll, but the Lifeforce band members know how to do it right, and it was a heady end to the night.
I have to imagine that it gave James some new ideas for some of his own classic songs, so don't be surprised if there's a new version of some familiar Shames' songs come June in Downers Grove. James has 2 months to perfect them, even tho we all believe they're already there.....but that's the creativity in him. Expect something new!!! I'm looking forward to it! It was good to see him out and about, and he said rehearsals are going well, so it should be a fun evening. I myself can't wait!!!!

Hi all, FINALLY, a dream I have been hoping and working for (for almost a decade) is about here! It has been a dream of Bob Irwin's as well!! Sundazedhttp://www.sundazed.com has picked up the torch and will have a new USA/Destination Records package available VERY soon! Bob Irwin has allowed me to open up the floodgates (I Hope). USA and Destination have been important to most of us since the 60's glory days in Chicago. I wish it had more pop rock stuff in it too, but the garage stuff will be great for you rock n rollers!! Jeff Jarema and all the Sundazed gang is in on this baby!! Yes, the set comes on 3 heavy virgin vinyl LPs that sound magnificent AND in a 2-CD set! You will note that some of you have a first hand bit in some of these recordings or the groups! Yes, there's some good buddies like the CRYAN SHAMES! Check out the always controversial "Ben Franklin's Almanac." Check the Cryan Shames website for the almost true meaning of the song (!!) at http://www.cryanshames.com/. The rarity here will be "You're Gonna Lose That Girl" which many know from the rare 1970 "Early Chicago" album. Here, you get it for the first time in its' original mono demo version without double tracked vocals!! Cool enough? How about Gary Loizzo and the pre-American Breed's early "Gary & the Knight Lites" 45 that was a hit in San Diego (of all places!). How about BOTH controversial Messengers groups being represented. Read the story--it's crazy!! Yes, the Flock!! There's 2 fave Michigan groups of mine who get classic stuff on here --the Sheffields and the Cherry Slush! My friend Debi of the Daughters of Eve is still out there playing and she and her "all girl band" (as they were billed) are here and I believe the Ricochetts are still at it in Iowa--also on here. Multi hundred dollar 45s by the Foggy Notions and Shady Daze and tons of more obscure greats!! The sound is incredible, even for messin' in the garage! You gotta have it!! It's ALMOST the midnight hour! IF you want a prompt as to when the set is available at Sundazed, just check their site or let me know and I will try to email you!!
Let's sell this one out, ok??
Thanks for your time!! Clark Besch

Lenny Kerley News
Lenny Kerley's Myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/lennykerley debuted on Christmas 2007. The page currently has 4 songs from his 2002 CD, Party at My Place. The page also links to the CDBaby page at http://cdbaby.com/cd/kerley where the CD can be purchased.
Lenny is in the process of setting up the Myspace and CDBaby accounts so that songs from the CD can be downloaded for a small fee.
Lenny is also in the process of converting old songs on tape or vinyl to digital for future release. An announcement will be sent out via the Myspace page when new songs are available for download.
Visit the Myspace page to hear the songs, add a comment, send a message to Lenny, and to see announcements about live performances (which are all too rare these days). If you send a friend request, you can automatically receive announcements. Please note that since Lenny doesn't have a computer or easy access to one, all comments or emails sent to him via the site will first be read by someone else before being passed on to him.
Be sure to enjoy the blues, but don't live them....
Nancy Joseph is the web master, and said Lenny can be contacted at:P.O. Box 912 Oak View, CA. 93023
