What's it all about?

Some nights are meant to only happen once. These are the Magical Nights that are later destined to become frozen moments in time that store memories. Waiting for that right trigger in the distant future, where they are replayed with the full brunt of their emotional charge... and the night is then relived, remembered.

Magical Nights occur when there is something different present, "something in the air" that transcends the usual five senses. The right ingredients must be present for this phenomena to occur. It requires the emotional alchemy of both the band and the fans. There is no substitute for either.

Frozen moments in time are what The Cryan' Shames web site is all about. The band and the fans provide the moments along with the memories of the night, of the one you loved.... that live on in the minds of those who remember.

When these moments occur they must be seized and held tightly, least they prematurely slip away,...and then held hostage for the future, with the ransom of replay. To be relived, and remembered as frozen moments in time.

See you at the concerts, and many more Magical Nights!

It is with great regret that we announce the passing of Jimy Rogers, a great friend and musician , on 12- 4-2010. Jimy, the front man of The Mauds, passed away after a long battle with cancer. There is no substitute for Jimy, he was and remains a legend "who brought soul to the suburbs".
The Cryan' Shames did a memorial concert for Jimy on April 2, 2011 along with : The Mauds, Blue Road , New Colony Six, Jimy Sohns, Mike Flynn, Cruise Machine, Ramblin Rose, Steve Temkin, Mark Tullos and The JR Project. Further details are at www.jimyrogerstribute.info

A Thank you from Paul Wood

November is the Thanksgiving and “count your blessings” month. This year our family is blessed that Paul is on the road to recovery, and actually back to work part time at the church, and able to take students and gigs again. We would like to thank our family, friends, church family, all the musicians, and all those who were generous with their prayers, time, talents, monetary gifts, cards, and words of encouragement. Thank you also for the visits to the hospital(s), home, and all who attended the benefit.
Thank you to Donna Rice, Dave Rice, and Jeff Rutter for organizing that awesome benefit. Thank you to Sharon Convalle, and Nancy Penn for taking care of the 50/50 tickets and a big thank you to all the musicians who traveled from all over to jam. It was an incredible evening of music and fun
Thanks to Rick from Shanahan’s for the generous gift and the use of his restaurant and bar. The food was great, and his friendly staff worked overtime to keep everyone happy! So, if you’re hungry, or out for a football game, or just thirsty for a cold one, be sure to visit Shanahan’s in either location and say “Paul and Mary Wood sent you!” Most of all thanks to our powerful and merciful God for taking care of us though all of this. Please take the time this month to count your blessings…we have. Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you all again from the bottom of our hearts.

Another Blast from the Past - Elvis has left the building

This story is too cool to not repeat. Though we don't have all the details, it involves our very own Jeff Rutter who was playing in Nashville, Tn. many years ago with his band. Anyway, while Jeff was relaxing in his hotel room after his concert, he, on the spur of the moment, decided to do one of his now famous Elvis impressions down to the "Hunka-a, Hunk-a burning love". There was a slight delay after his performance, which was followed by numerous women "Scrambling" to his door - and not at all happly to have fell for it!
"Thank you very much"...

News From Clark Besch

I hope you all got off of Lake Shore Drive by now! Haha. Quite a winter, eh? Good to see the sun and grass again. Anyway, not much to report musically this time. Worked on upcoming Sundazed Left Banke Cd reissues as well as Sam the Sham and Sir douglas Quintet Cds for them. Also did some stuff for a new label, Now sounds. I wish there was Cryan Shames stuff to work on, but the well looks dry for reissues these days. Good to see Bob Stroud singing with the Shames a bit too! Take care! Clark

Lenny Kerley News

Lenny Kerley's Myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/lennykerley debuted on Christmas 2007. The page currently has 4 songs from his 2002 CD, Party at My Place. The page also links to the CDBaby page at http://cdbaby.com/cd/kerley where the CD can be purchased.
Lenny is in the process of setting up the Myspace and CDBaby accounts so that songs from the CD can be downloaded for a small fee.
Lenny is also in the process of converting old songs on tape or vinyl to digital for future release. An announcement will be sent out via the Myspace page when new songs are available for download.
Visit the Myspace page to hear the songs, add a comment, send a message to Lenny, and to see announcements about live performances (which are all too rare these days). If you send a friend request, you can automatically receive announcements. Please note that since Lenny doesn't have a computer or easy access to one, all comments or emails sent to him via the site will first be read by someone else before being passed on to him.
Be sure to enjoy the blues, but don't live them....
