A Personal Thank You To The Cryan' Shames

Sunset, Orland Park July 4,1997.

Lisle Concert, July 3, 1997

We attended the Lisle Concert as the guests of the Cryan' Shames, and were able to meet
the band, though we were already friends through our many e-mail correspondences, and phone
calls.
Jim Pilster (J. C. Hooke), and Tom Doody (Toad) were still as we remembered them 28
years ago, they had us constantly laughing. The band treated us as family, and we can't
remember when we have had as much fun and excitement. Sue Christenson personally drove us
around while we were in Lisle, and provided us with band photo's, news clippings, and Shames'
memorabilia for this homepage (Sue handles the Shames' fan mail, questions, and etc).
THE CONCERT WOW!!!!!! FANTASTIC.
The band sounded as great as ever! Their stage presence was as energetic and zany as it was 30
years ago. Jim and Tom frequently interacting with the audience. Jim, can still kick a cymbal
6ft. off the ground! They played all of the Shames' greatest hits and a few covers from other
Chicago 60's groups. We were all sorry to see the concert end.
Steve Rutten came from Wisconsin to take pictures, and film the concert. Besides being a
great friend, he is also a great help as well as one of the staff on this homepage.
Ron Brandt's wife Debby sat with us during the concert, and shared many stories with us.
Ron plays guitar for The Cryan Shames.Debby also showed us a Photo album from their recent
vacation in Jamaica. They could not have treated us nicer.
We got an interview from Paul Wood, The Cryan' Shames keyboard and guitar player. We hope
to get interviews from the rest of the members, at the Clarendon Hill's concert. After the concert
we went for a late dinner with Sue, Gloria, and friends of the band. Jim Pilster surprised us by
showing up and visiting us at the restaurant.
We can not wait until we see them at their next concert, more photos to follow at the link
below.
Our personal thanks to THE CRYAN' SHAMES, and their staff for a most memorable time.
Thank You,
Pat and Barb Malott
