Dear Fishin' Musician,
As a landlocked ,freshwater fisherman i was wondering how you saltwater fishermen deal with the problem of electric eels. Is it true that you must use a silicon diode between the hook (not J.C.) and the line? Also are the eels AC, DC or GE?.One last question,when you tune-a-fish,what mode do you use:Dorian, Mixolydian or Ionian.

These are good questions Pat....
When you see eels backed into the coral ,they have ther tails plugged into a 115V-60HZ outlet.This is why no one has ever been shocked by an eel that is not plugged in,and the eels I've dealt with are all big AC/DC fans. Instead of using a silicon diode,you can use a temp. hardened device,depending on the impedance of the water. When I tune a fish,I tune them to "A" flat demolished if they have scales,and if they don't I simply guess their weight.

The band has nothing to do with the merchandising of T Shirts etc.. That is handeled by our good good, and loyal friend, Gloria(glorik@aol.com). This by no means lets us off the hooke as we are very intrested,and involved in all things w/ our name on them. From the CD's to the concerts,to T-shirts and Pictures. We want you to be happy w/ what you recieve (maybe thats why we've been around 34 years). To that extent we will be happy to either exchange or give a refund on the shirt. Just notify Gloria or bring it to a show. #2. I understand that the T-shirts come from the manufacturer already sealed in plastic. So it is very hard for us to know when a certain batch has a mistake on them. Thanks to the vigilance of people like 'Blue Village' who so colorfully bring it to our attention,we can correct these injustices. #3. one third of the price of that T-shirt went back to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in our fans name, and we thank you all. Comments: as regards the toada response. of course we all are susceptible to typos...even the great el toada. i have always found it somewhat depressing that, as tod mentions, the universe is held together by morons, but this truth is repeatedly born out by daily life experiences. i won't address the quirks he mentions, as i've grown tired of him pickin' on me... james

Comments: Though the Shames fest season is over until next summer, the rhythm section, aka Scramble, continues to play out whenever possible. Paul, Rocky, Tim, Jeff and myself all have various other gigs going throughout the year and the occasional club date still comes around. Such is the case later this December when Scramble plays 2 fun suburban clubs just before the Christmas Holiday. Along with the finest keyboard player alive, Dave Rice, pounding on his organ you can catch Scramble December 22nd at the Aurora Snuggery on New York Street about 1 block east of the Hollywood Riverboat Casino. Then on the following night, December 23rd, you can see us again in Warrenville at The Avalanche Sports Bar next to the Dairy Queen on Rt. 59 about 2 miles north of the East-West Tollway (I-88). Show time should be around 9:00 for both venues. We always have a fantastic time at Scramble shows so if you think the Shames are fun ... just wait until you see Jeff Rutter naked!
